When did you begin creating art?

I feel like I always had a natural inclination towards creativity. I truly began creating art in middle school. My first medium was photography. I found Resin about 6 years ago and fell in love right away. I saw a video of someone using it and I was determined to figure it out. I went and bought the supplies the next day. It sure has been a trial and error medium but I love it so much.

What is your favorite medium?

My favorite medium is Resin, it is so versatile and now that I work with it I see how many everyday items are made with it. It’s extremely finicky and requires a lot of different supplies but it is very rewarding once you figure it out.

Where do you find inspiration?

I find inspiration in everyday objects and the beach a lot. A lot of my pieces are ocean inspired beach. I am always drawn to the water but I love creating timeless pieces as well. I try to just stay open minded and be receptive to my surroundings because inspiration can strike from unexpected sources at any time.

What motivates you to create?

My motivation to create comes from all over the place.  For me it is a powerful outlet for processing complex feelings and communicating ideas that may be difficult to express through words alone. So sometimes when I am frustrated or extra happy I like to create something to go along with how I am feeling. Ultimately, the motivation to create art comes from within, driven by a genuine connection to the creative process and a desire to connect with others on a deeper level.

How do you think art impacts society?

I think that art has a huge impact on society. Firstly, it serves as a means of self-expression, allowing individuals to communicate their thoughts, emotions, and perspectives. It fosters creativity and imagination, promoting critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Art also has the power to inspire and provoke change, challenging societal norms and facilitating dialogue on important issues.Overall, art enriches our lives, stimulates innovation, and contributes to the well-being and development of individuals and communities.

What is your inspiration behind this piece?

The inspiration behind this piece is “growth and change” as women I feel like we go through so many phases of life, sometimes we are bright bold fresh flowers and other-times we are slightly dull, maybe wrinkled, flawed to an extent. But this piece shows you aren’t one or the other but all of them. Life comes and goes in phases and you grow and learn from each part of it. The only constant in life is change.

Why did you choose to donate to ED Warriors?

ED warriors is such a great organization and helps bring awareness to how common eating disorders really are. I love that it is a support based group that creates a safe positive environment for people to share stories. I couldn’t pick a better organization to share my art with.
