When did you begin creating art?

I have been creating art since I was a kid. It’s always been a space for me to just explore and experiment.

What is your favorite medium?

My ALL-TIME favorite is oil pastels, but I’m currently in a huge “arts and crafts” kick, so anything with cardboard, tissue paper, construction paper and hot glue.

Where do you find inspiration?

My inspiration mostly come from a necessity to make something, I have 3 school aged kids and with that comes lots of projects. I love any opportunity to learn something new, so I step into any creative/decorative roll that comes up.

What motivates you to create?

My kids are a major motivation for me, they have such creative minds and I love having something we can share.

How do you think art impacts society?

Art gives people a way to express themselves without words.

What is your inspiration behind this piece?

My inspiration behind this piece is my relationship with my bathroom scale, I used to allow it to dictate my life and allowed the number it reflected to make or ruin my day. I wanted to show the thoughts I wish I had coming out of the scale. Things I wish I had said or thought. And I made it a piñatas because what’s more fun than a piñata?

Why did you choose to donate to ED Warriors?

Belle and the ED Warriors have always been a cause close to my heart. Belle and I first really bonded over our shared past and built a beautiful friendship supporting one another during rough times. Art for me was always a way to release my feeling and emotions when I was struggling with my own eating disorder. Creating and donating art just makes sense. It was my voice when I was too scared to speak up and I know it is the same for other people.
